Who writes this blog?
My name is Andrei and I am a part time blogger but full time web geek. I was always looking for ways to make passive income online and finally decided that I’d attempt to turn my quest into this website. There are a lot of websites and blogs that talk about making money online — many of them do a terrific job at this. Many of them actually make money at this as well (Problogger.net comes to mind). However, like most entrepreneurs, I always felt that I had something extra to offer–I could add value with my unique point of view.
What makes me an authority?
This question is bound to come up and with good reason. So here’s my story: I started out pursuing a business degree from a well known university program in the United States and by my second year I was in entrepreneur mode– looking for ideas, opportunities, and innovations that I could see myself getting excited about.
As is sometimes the case, life got in the way and I couldn’t launch a venture of my own. I was busy with school, work, and studying for the LSAT. I applied to a few law schools, didn’t get in and was not shaken in the least.
Instead, I got an opportunity to work at a mutual fund where I learned a thing or two about marketing and sales. And although the mutual fund world is far from the blogsphere, I took away some great lessons and developed some useful skills which I still use and can apply to the web. Then I leaped to something more in line with this website. I began working for an eBay drop-off store in operations. There I learned a whole lot about online business, online auctions, and the reasons why some auctions do extremely well while others do very poorly. It also made me aware of the income potential offered by the web. This experience really opened the flood gates– I couldn’t seem to read or learn enough about the subject.
Fast forward to today, and I am totally obsessed with web 2.0 and the social web. I get excited when I see new startups providing really useful services to improve the way we do things. It turns out that many of those services are targeted to people just like you and me, who are aiming to utilize the power of the web to generate alternative income streams and manage our hard earned money (hey, it isn’t easy after all).
Okay. So what? You came from a finance background and played a bit in the online auction arena. What is this site really about?
It is all about generating extra cash from your website or other web properties. I’ll be covering things like online auctions (I do afterall have first hand experience there), advertising, web 2.0 products/services to make and manage your cash, domain investing, and of course will cover other available income opportunities on the web. I hope to teach you about what I already know, and share new things as I learn them too.
