I agree. I think that valuing ECs will be a longer term issue. I may try this again with a few modifications. Stay tuned as the next auction will be announced here first.

This was an interesting experiment, and one that has generated some interest within Entrecard.

Valuing ECs in the future could be complex since we won’t know what the supply-demand for them will be like. If there is more demand, then the value will be higher. The demand can increase as the cost to advertise on the top blogs increases.

Then again, if others find a way of cheating the system be easily generating credits, then the value could drop.

We’ll have to wait and see over the next few months what the value could possible be.

I think the auction should have been publicized more to get more viewers possibly. Entrecard is still a new thing, and since noone has put up credits on Ebay before. Noone will really look there to purchase them unless they ran into your post.

So calculating all this, it comes out to about $7-8 to purchase a John chow Entrecard widget slot for 1 day, and about $5-6 bucks to put one up on Problogger.
