I’ll be the first to admit that Entrecard is a great tool for a faily new blog. The concept is simple and allow even small new sites the opportunity to advertise on well established blogs without paying a huge amount of money.

This all got me thinking. Since the Entrecard service provides such great value for bloggers, would it be valuable enough to make selling Entrecard credits possible. Sure, the credits are free (although they do come at the cost of spending time dropping your card on other users’ blogs) but how much is each credit worth in real dollars.

So here’s what i’ve done: I’ve set up an eBay auction starting at just $0.01 for 50 Entrecard credits. It is the 1st auction of its kind on eBay (and maybe anywhere for that matter) and will run until December 26th with the winning bidder receiving 50 credits to use towards buying advertising or to give them away as part of the Entrecard credit giveaways that have become so popular since the service launched.

At the end of the auction we will see how much each credit is worth and thus find out how much in terms of PPD (Pay Per Drop) we are all getting paid when using the service. Shortly after auction end, I will post my thoughts on what the results tell us and how it can be used to make money.

To bid now visit the auction listing or look for item number 260195527125 on eBay.

Update: I was taking a look through Digg when I found a story about Entrecard Credits that seemed interesting. I clicked and was totally surprised to find that my auction was being talked about as the number 1 sign that Entrecard credits are being monetized. You can take a look at the article at woobie’s blog.
